Fashion Designer

The Norfolk Clothing Company is an aspiring international brand of premium quality clothing in high street fashion industry that is fast-paced, highly commercial and media-led.
The Fashion Designer will be required to understand the process of mass manufacturing of a high street fashion brand.
Duties will include all aspects of the product – research, design, fabric, sampling, and production processes.
The Fashion Designer reports to the Senior Fashion Designer, is responsible to manage merchandise / production teams and will be involved in making presentations to internal stakeholders.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Topview objective
• Support the design team with preparing competitor analysis, design, fabric, market and lifestyle trends researches and that influence and impact the product development process from product briefing, board preparation, product concept, sampling process, to production and visual merchandising support
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of consumers, consumer retail habits, brandpositioning relating to category and market trends
• Have the ability to carry ideas through to concept to commercialization
Technical objective
• Create/visualize ideas and produces design by hand and using Adobe Illustrator to produce a technical drawings
• Support both design and technical aspects of product development
• Recommend fabrics, trims, fastenings and embellishments
• Able to adapt existing designs for mass production Management of internal teams
• Communicate with the merchandising team during the developing process to make sure the products meet the brief
• Support the pattern department in developing a pattern to meet the design with
comments/briefings for fitting, detailing and adaptations.
• Oversee the sample making and production process
• Ensure that all related departments are informed about the status of each product.

Proactive Objectives
• Collaborate to create/improve new practices, process, and design applications to increase product design/technical viability
• Take on any other tasks briefed by the Senior Fashion Designer

Skills and Specifications
• Must love fashion
• Must be a good listener and be open-minded to suggestions from other team
members
• Must be team-oriented and enjoy working in a fun and multicultural environment
• Must meet deadlines
• Must be self motivated, able to juggle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment !
• Understand design from a technical perspective in order to prepare technical
specifications for designs
• Needs to have knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models.
• Needs to have strong creative, organizational, communication (written and verbal) and computer skills
• Must be hard working and reliable.
• A good diploma or degree in fashion designing or relevant working experience / professional portfolio.
• Must have consistently high work ethics / quality standard
• Good Vietnamese and English skills (written and verbal) are necessary
